Apple's iPhone platform has just been given a serious dose of gaming cred.
As initially reported by MacWorld, John Carmack and id Software have announced Doom Resurrection, a new chapter in the Doom franchise that is being developed exclusively for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Using assets from Doom 3, Resurrection will be a first-person shooter with a twist, utilizing the iPhone's touch screen to create a unique experience. In addition to the announced trailer, which is featured below, Carmack also stated that he's very excited about working on Apple's platform and that he feels the iPhone may be an even more capable portable gaming system than the PSP.
Check out the trailer below. Doom Resurrection is slated for release on Apple's App Store within the next month.
