EA and Bioware have revealed what goodies gamers will get for putting some money down on Mass Effect 3 before it releases on March 6.

As of yesterday, anybody who pre-orders Mass Effect 3 at participating retailers will receive the M55 Argus Assault Rifle. Don't worry if you pre-ordered before then. All existing pre-orders will also get these goodies. This goes for both the Standard and Limited Edition versions of the game.

Additionally, there are specific pre-order bonuses exclusive to GameStop and EA's own Origin service. These include:

  • N7 Warfare Gear, exclusive to fans who pre-order at GameStop and EB Games, which includes:
  • N7 Valkyrie Assault Rifle - Deliver two rounds per shot with deadly accuracy and stop the opposition dead in their tracks with superior high caliber rounds.
  • N7 Defender Armor - Improved shields and health, players can survive even the most punishing of battles and withstand sustained enemy fire. The N7 Defender Armor also offers:

- Increased ammo capacity. Additional ammunition compartments to ensure players are always battle-ready.

- Amplified weapon damage. Built-in power cells provide an additional punch to weapon fire.

  • AT-12 Raider Shotgun - Available to PC players who pre-order through EA's Origin service, the AT-12 Raider Shotgun fires a large pellet spread, ensuring maximum coverage for close-range targets. Designed for superior rapid fire, the AT-12 allows for optimal recovery time between shots.

Check out the trailer below to see the N7 Defender Armor for yourself and the M55 Argus Assault Rifle in action.

The Microsoft Press Event concluded with few surprises this year at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA. With Kinect being the main focal point of the event, it is easy to assume what letter grade most gamers would give Microsoft for their presentation. Here is a quick video taken right after the Microsoft Press Event featuring SoldierX and Parris. Listen in as they give their thoughts on what Microsoft brought to the table.

Leave us a comment and tell us how you think Microsoft did during their presentation. Thanks for watching.

Conduit 2 has an awesome ending! PDF Print E-mail

I've been hearing rumblings lately that everyone should check out the ending to the Conduit 2, the Wii-exclusive FPS from High Voltage software. People are recommending it even if you plan on playing the game. That is how bananas the ending is. You can watch it and have no idea how the game gets to that point.

I just finished watching it and I agree. The ending is indeed crazy and kind of awesome at the same time. It even makes me want to play the game now. What do guys think? Of course the video below is full of spoilers so proceed with caution.

Brink - Character Classes PDF Print E-mail

Considering that just about anyone who has played a video game in the last several years probably already knows how to read a heads-up display, yesterday's video about Brink's HUD was a waste of time. I admit that. Fortunately, today's video about Brink's character classes will be more informative. Because I know that none of you know what Soldiers, Medics, Engineers, or Operatives are.

Oh, wait...

Brink will be available next week from developer Splash Damage and publisher Bethesda on Tuesday in North America, Thursday in Australia, and Friday in Europe.

Brink - The HUD PDF Print E-mail

With only one week remaining before its release, the question of whether the upcoming multiplayer FPS Brink will have what it takes to compete against industry titans like Call of Duty and Halo is becoming increasingly urgent. This video doesn't answer that question, but its tutorial of the game's HUD does give gamers a good idea of how the game conveys vital information such as health and ammunition. I particularly like the slick way the game visualizes the time it takes for certain actions to replenish with regenerating bars.

Brink becomes available in North America on May 10, Australia on May 12, and Europe on May 13.

New Portal 2 TV spot PDF Print E-mail
Written by Trey June

TV spots should show more gameplay. Like the recent Bulletstorm commercial that shows a montage of gameplay carnage to the music of Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot."

But no. The Call of Duty: Black Ops commercial didn't show a frame of the game, but some people bought it anyway after they saw Kobe Bryant wielding an assault rifle and Jimmy Kimmel firing a rocket launcher. Halo 3's marketing campaign involved (to name a few) an 8-minute live-action film, a wicked diorama, and a limited time-only Mountain Dew flavor, but you had to go digging if you wanted to know what the game actually looked like before it was released. Then there are the CGI videos that are intended to emulate the feel of playing the game; those always look good, but they rarely convey what it's like to play the game.

Portal 2 joins the ranks of the second batch. It doesn't show us the game in action, but hey, at least this one shows how the Portal gun works. That's more than I can say for most.
