CODMW2XBOX

Microsoft and Infinity Ward have just announced the existence of a Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Xbox 360 console. According to majornelson.com, the package will include the custom designed console shown above, a 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers, and a standard version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for $399.99.

Amazon already has it listed for pre-order and it should also be available for pre-order at your local retailer tomorrow. Not a bad deal if you have resisted the urge to pick up the Xbox 360 Elite at its new price of $299.99. Keep reading after the break for the complete rundown of what's in the package and let us know in the comments if anyone plans on picking this up.

  • Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console with exclusive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 design
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition (Rated "M" for Mature)
  • 250 GB hard drive
  • 2 black wireless controllers
  • 1 black Xbox 360 wired headset
  • 1 ethernet cable
  • 1 Xbox 360 composite A/V cable
  • Free one month subscription to Xbox LIVE Gold (Xbox LIVE Silver subscription is included with console)
  • Free Netflix trial offer

HDMI cable is not included.

Looks F***** ugly as hell. They just couldn't have thrown a mix of some green in there or something?

I dunno... a $299 ps3 or Elite is a much better value. (My opinion.) With the ps3 you get wi-fi and the network is free. I'd rather spend the money on the deluxe edition of Warfare 2, the one with the night goggles.

I won't lie. I had tried to get the Limited Edition Red Elite earlier this year, but it was out of stock by the time I could afford it.

Does this mean that M$ is gonna drop the price of the hard-drive if you just buy that? I'm not interested in this package.

is this just hype or is this actually leading to something big?

250GB is excessive and they couldn't have picked a more ugly design if they wanted. How are they gonna replace this thing when it inevitably gets the RROD a few times and becomes irreparable?

Not a bad value. You get an extra controller, bigger hard drive, and Modern Warfare 2. The controller and game are worth more than $100.

got to see this thing first hand last night and it has some sex appeal and is a great value at $399 for everything you get in the box.

Major Nelson told us they currently don't have any pricing for the 250gb HD sold separately

If I were new to xbox and saw this new 250 gig elite sitting next to the 120 elite and arcade versions, I would pick this up in a heartbeat. Having an A title game like modernwarfare 2 and two controllers in the box and ready to play is worth the extra hundred dollars.

Looks awesome, but I would have to agree with JANUS on this one

Regardless I already have both a PS3 a 360 and my pre-order for MW2 in already, so now the only thing that I'm interested after reading this article is the 250GB-HD. I think I've squeeze all I can out of that original 20GB-HD and I'm getting tired of deleting files lately.

Heck of deal! That hard drive size hints to the future of gaming. Wonder if Sony will have a similar bundle...???

I feel guilty already having a 360 and wanting this new one. I do want a bigger hard drive but the worries of have a limited edition red ring scares me.

What a piece of junk! $400 for a small design & only the STANDARD version of MW2!?!? That should include the Special edition. From how I see this, with the 'new' price, you're paying $300 for the system, $60 for the standard game, which leaves...$40 for the design? I'll rather paint my own xbox they way I'd want it. What's the point of lowering the price if they're just gonna raise it again w/ this garbage?

For the extra $100, you get the game, a second controller, an additional 130 GB of hard drive space and the design of the box.

Microsoft and Sony are killing me. I always planned to buy the PS3 when it dropped to $300, and I have holding off on getting a new 360 until the new larger hard drive. Of course they announce both right after I find out we're pregnant. Foiled again.

Two questions: Why only 250 GB and why for this game?

Honestly, I'm still looking to pick up one my girlfriend will want. This doesn't fit that bill. And you'd think that with downloaded games, the latest thing they're pushing, they'd want the hard drive to be larger (maybe 500 or 1T). I just hope the next non-limited-edition they come out with is better.
