Just a few days before PS Vita First Edition Bundles are set to hit retail, Sony has released a list of compatible PSP games that can be downloaded and enjoyed on the new shiny handheld.
The list is quite large and will be made up of about 275 titles (including Minis) at launch with more to follow. Since the Vita will not play UMDs, this is the only way that North American gamers can play some of their PSP favorites on the Vita. If you've previously downloaded any of these games, they can be redownloaded or transfered to your Vita at no extra cost. The rest will be available through the Playstation Store for various prices.
Continue after the break for the full (and really long) list.

According to the Playstation Blog, Playstation and Taco Bell are teaming up to give away free PS Vitas before they are available in stores.
Beginning January 26 and running through March 11, one lucky person will win one PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi system, one copy of the PS Vita exclusive Little Deviants, one 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and their choice of one of the following: ModNation Racers: Road Trip, MLB 12 The Show or LittleBigPlanet EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES!
There are three ways to play. You can buy a "$5 Buck Box" at your local Taco Bell that will contain a code that you can enter online. If actually eating Taco Bell is not your style then don't worry. You can also enter by playing the Reality Fighters Dojo minigame found within the Taco Bell mobile app or by submitting a photo or video boasting about what you're willing to do to win a PS Vita. These entries will be featured in an online gallery and voted on by the general public.
So is eating Taco Bell worth it guys? Let us know if you'll be participating in the comments below.

Sony has cleared up the rumors that its upcoming handheld will only support one PSN account per system.
Speaking to Wired.com, Sony Associate Brand Marketing Manager Crystal MacKenzie stated that PSN accounts will be linked to the memory card being used, not to the system itself.
"Your PSN ID is bonded to your memory card and your memory card is bonded to your Vita," MacKenzie said. "So if you wanted to change different PSN users but use the same memory card, you would need to go factory reset."
Therefore, you can have multiple PSN IDs for each system, provided you buy a memory card for each account.
I only have one PSN ID so I don't really see this as a problem. You can't really blame Sony too much for wanting to keep things limited due to the piracy that ran wild on the PSP. Still, this makes things very expensive for customers with more than one PSN ID or for those who plan on sharing one system in a household.

The rumors proved to be true. Sony's Next Generation Portable is officially named the PlayStation Vita. This exciting new portable console is looking to be the next big step in gaming, not just for handhelds but consoles in general. On top of the reveal of the name, Sony also revealed that the PSVita will be launching globally by Holiday 2011.
There will be two models of PSVita: a WiFi only model and a 3G/WiFi model. The WiFi only model will be priced at $249.99. The 3G/WiFi model will cost $299.99 with the 3G service provided by AT&T in the US. No announcement was made for carriers in other countries.
Sony also revealed several new features for the PSVita. The first new feature is party chat using a headset or the built-in microphone to talk to people no matter what game they're playing. Another cool idea is Near, a connection tool that allows you to find PSVita owners around you and connect with them for games, comparing trophies and more.
At a price point that matches Nintendo's 3DS, it looks like Sony is serious about making a big dent in the portable market. We'll see how it pans out this fall.

[UPDATE] Well, it seems that "mostly dead" is more appropriate. A Sony spokesman told Kotaku today: "We are continuing production of PSP Go in North America." That's right rest of the world. Be jealous!
Sony confirmed today that it has halted production on its digital-only handheld, the PSP Go.
According to Kotaku, Sony told Japanese website AV Watch that new PSP Go units would no longer be manufactured or shipped "in order to concentrate on the NGP."
If you're still looking into buying a PSP (why?), you can still purchase the UMD enabled PSP-3000 which will continue to be manufactured and sold. Sony seems like it might continue to support it even after the NGP is released.
When I first heard this news, I was instantly confused. Not because of the incredibly short life span of the PSP Go (2009 - 2011) but because I thought this had happened a long time ago. It was a nice try by Sony but it seems an all digital platform is still years away. Maybe an appropriate price (and support) would have helped. Let's hope Sony keeps this in mind for the NGP.

We all knew what was coming last night and Sony did not disappoint. Many rumors finally came true when Sony announced the "Next Generation Portable," which wasn't explicitly declared the next PSP but it as well be. The device is a portable console built with basically everything PSP fans have been asking for: dual analog sticks, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, front and rear cameras, microphone, dual multi-touch pads and SixAxis. The device has a screen resolution of 960 x 544 and purportedly has PlayStation 3 quality graphics. The system is also receiving a new medium: a small, flash based card made specifically for the NGP. The cards will house the game as well as saves and any add-on content. Perhaps the only thing missing from this new device is that it will be unable to play UMDs, leaving many current PSP owners in the dark.
After the unveiling they discussed a large variety of games including heavy hitters like Uncharted, Killzone, Call of Duty and Resistance. The Uncharted demo was easily the highlight of the announcement. The game is being developed by Naughty Dog and the demo showed Drake being controlled through a combination of the twin sticks, motion and touch control. The other titles shown off or discussed were WipEout, LittleBigPlanet, Little Deviants, Hot Shots Golf, Reality Fighters, Gravity Daze, Smart As, Broken and Hustle Kings.
The last two features announced were LiveArea and Near. LiveArea is a game information hub that you can access in-game that allows you to jump to other areas like PS Store, friends and trophies. That's right the NGP will have trophy support. Near is a system that tracks your surroundings and allows you to find people nearby that are also playing the NGP. Since the device has 3G and GPS you will basically be connected almost all of the time, allowing it to track your every movement (insert sinister laughing here).
No pricing information was given during the announcement but they did announce that the NGP will be arriving Holiday 2011. I can't wait until E3 when surely even more interesting ideas will be revealed, likely along with a price. Hit the jump to see tons of screenshots and full specs for this slick new device.

The latest game in the God of War series has been given a release date. Ghost of Sparta is coming to the Playstation Portable on November 2nd. Apart from a simple release date the official Playstation blog also highlighted a hefty pre-order bonus and details about the PSP bundle.
By pre-ordering Ghost of Sparta (from participating retailers) you will receive the original soundtrack, PSP and PS3 themes, a PSN avatar, the "Legionnaire" skin and an exclusive Game Directors Documentary. This has to be the largest pre-order bonus I've ever seen. Usually stuff like this is included in some kind of special edition version not just for a simple pre-order.
For any God of War fans out there without a PSP then the God of War: Ghost of Sparta Entertainment Pack is probably right up your alley. For $199.99 you will receive a special black and red PSP-3000, a Ghost of Sparta UMD, a voucher code to download God of War: Chains of Olympus, a UMD of the movie Kick-Ass and a 2GB memory stick.
Sony is treating God of War: Ghost of Sparta just like any retail God of War and any fan of Kratos out there has a lot of stuff to look forward to come November.

Starting today, June 1st, Sony is starting an aggressive push to get as much legitimate software in the hands of PSP and PSPgo customers. Many titles are going to be added to the new "Favorites" category, new additions are coming to the "Greatest Hits" catalog and the PSPgo will now be bundled with three games.
From today until March 31, 2011, any new adopters of the PSPgo will receive an email with a Playstation Network voucher to download LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 for free. No word if the titles included in this freebie pack will change. One has to assume so once new software is released later in the year.
Four games are ready to join the $19.99 "Greatest Hits" collection as well. These include:
- Gran Turismo
- LittleBigPlanet (PSP version of course)
- Resistance: Retribution
- Secret Agent Clank
The most aggressive push is with the creation of the new $9.99 "Favorites" lineup. Many titles, both first and third party, will be included in the initial lineup. Continue reading after the break for that lengthy list of games. Will this strategy pay off? Do you see yourself buying more PSP software or a new PSPgo because of these announcements? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Seems all you PSP Go customers will finally be able to experience the portable joy of Sackboy. After a delay of over a week due to "technical difficulties", Little Big Planet PSP will be releasing on the Playstation Network later today. That 's a full week after the UMD hit retail. Yeah. Not a nice precedent set there Sony. Either way you grab the game, an update will be available that improves some of the physics and tools in create mode.
How do all the PSP Go faithful feel about this delay? Are you getting worried that this might happen more regularly? Let us know in the comments.
