Your natural reaction right now is probably to hit Play on the video, and then come back and read this article. But wait, because we have things to tell you that the video doesn't, no matter how awesome it is.
Uncharted 2's multiplayer mode probably isn't a huge surprise at this point, given last week's leak. But as surprising as this news was, it's nothing compared to the official story coming out of Sony and Naughty Dog this morning.
Uncharted 2 supports both cooperative and competitive multiplayer. That's probably enough to get you excited, because ultimately, cooperative gameplay is where it's at these days. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a dirty, stinking liar. But it gets a lot more interesting, because the game supports three players in co-op. On top of Nathan Drake, Chloe and Sully can now be controlled by players in what Sony is describing as an alternate way to play the storyline. While they're not talking full specifics yet, they have stated that the co-op mode doesn't always follow the same path and story as the single player mode.
At this point, Naughty Dog is only confirming two modes for multiplayer, a standard Deathmatch mode and a CTF style of gameplay which they refer to as "Plunder", in which each side tries to steal treasure from the other, with the gold-runner slowing down and only able to use the pistol. Naughty Dog has yet to confirm/deny the existence of other competitive multiplayer modes.
Now, knowing all this, go watch the video. Then leave us a comment. And if you just decided to buy yourself a PlayStation 3 for Christmas, fess up. It's OK, we understand.

If they pull off Nathan, Chloe and Sully co-op play where each character story is different, or where they branch off (not like Gears "left path/right path), but each players action can change another players area could be extremely cool.
Even in Uncharted while playing Nathan both Elena and Sully had their own stories going on right? Would be cool to finally play a single player game from a different character's prospective. Wow, talk about replay value & DLC possibilities. Sing me up for all 3!
As for competitive multiplayer in Uncharted, have to wait and see, but probably pass.
Yo. I like what I'm seeing so far. I like the first Uncharted and I'm sure Uncharted 2 will not be a disappointment. I will be buying uncharted 2 for the single campaign anyway. the multiplayer can't be anything but a positive in my eyes

Wow that footage looked great, Co-op sounds really cool and the competitive doesnt look bad, if that was real MP then i am kind of excited to see how its like, when is this game supposed to come out again? Uncharted Drakes fortune is still One of my favorate games on the ps3 and it looks like this is going to top the fist one.

I hate to say it (because I want more reasons to play my playstation vs. my 360), but this multiplayer just does not look convincing. Why would I do this when I can be playing Halo ODST, Modern Warfare 2, Resistance 2 or Killzone 2?
