This morning Bethesda announced their plans to release two more DLC packs for their hit title Fallout 3. The first of the two, Point Lookout, will open up a massive swampland with tons of new, exclusive content and new quests to boot. This pack, as all the others have been, will cost 800 Microsoft points and should be available in late June. The next DLC pack due out in late July, Mothership Zeta, will task your character with defending against an alien invasion. The tagline for Zeta reads: The aliens have returned, and they're pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you're tough enough to survive.
PlayStation 3 users, do not despair. Though it took them long enough, as was the case with Oblivion, so shall be the case for Fallout 3. PS3 players will be getting the DLC, just at a later date. Operation Anchorage will be released in late June to the PlayStation Network. The other two, The Pitt and Broken Steel, will follow four to six weeks apart. The newly announced Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout will be coming as well in later months. And on top of all this, Bethesda will also be releasing the Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2, which includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc for the Xbox 360 or PC, with a ship date scheduled for August.
Last, but certainly not least a Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition will be available in October. It will include of course the full game, plus all 5 add-ons for $59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. The PC version will cost a little bit less at $49.99. It certainly is nice when companies follow the same path for multiple games. For you tightwads out there (like me) this is the perfect chance to cash in and get everything for the price of original game. Go to your game trading store of choice, drop a few titles and pick up the new version when it launches. Because honestly, you and I both know you are never going to play Need for Speed: Pro Street again.
This information bodes well for fans of the Fallout series. Bethesda seems keen on keeping the fans happy with a steady stream of content. It would be safe to assume that with such an all encompassing list of add-ons that we could then put Fallout 3 to bed. Because Bethesda, there are other series (Elder Scrolls) that you could be working on, right?
