Thursday, August 13 2009 Chillingo's Touch KO iPhone Review

Presented By:

Touch KO brought to us by Chillingo is by far the best boxing game for the iPhone platform that I have played so far. I would highly recommend the purchase of this game for anyone who is a fan of boxing games and sports games alike. You won't be disappointed in this title! Can't beat the price either at $2.99!!

Graphics: The graphics in Touch KO are as slick as they get.  The charactors are great looking as well as the menus and controls. There's not too much I can say about the looks of this one, they are just awesome.

Gameplay: I'll start off by saying that it is a good idea to restart your phone before playing, if you don't the game is king of choppy, this is mainly in the cut-scenes but it was noticible. It didn't happen during the actual gameplay so it's not that big of a deal. The controls are pretty cool as you slide your fingers to hit the other boxer and pound him into the ground! There are also menu's that let you customize your boxer to your liking as well as iPod playback during gameplay, which if you have read any of my past reviews I absolutely love that feature! Overall the game plays very well, I didn't have hardly any problems with the game reading my controls as I was fighting. The response to my touch was nearly flawless. Another win for Chillingo in my book.

                 One punch.......                                                        Two punches........

 AND HE'S OUT!! TKO!

Overview: Like I said before, there really isn't too much I can say about Touch KO because it is such a good game; fun to play, very well put together, and looks fantastic! I suggest you go buy this at once!

Thanks for reading, check out my other reviews!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this game is only $0.99 in the app store!! So, worth the dollar!

I got this hot little game a day or so after it's release. I follow the publisher Chillingo closely because they have had few failed games in the app store in my personal opinion. Minigore is no exception. This game is a fantastic time-killer, I play it at the doctor's office, work (hehe), and anywhere else I just happen to be bored.

Gameplay: It's simple enough, use the left button to move and the right button to blast away at all the little creatures that come after you. Movement is flawless, couldn't ask for a better playing game in the app store for what it is and how incredibly simple, yet, addictively entertaining it is.

Graphics: I apologise in advance for some of the shotty screens I took. It was kind of tricky to take them while still playing. However, the graphics are simple but done very well. You can't helpbut think the little guy is a bad ass running around the screen killing everything in sight. Another good thing about this not being so graphics heavy is that you don't have to restart your phone everytime you want to play. That's always a plus in my book.

Note: One thing I have noticed in Chillingo and others recent releases is the capability to play your iPod while playing the game. Personally  I love this feature!

Now I chose Mr. Johnny Cash to play while I whooped ass.

But..........

He was not enough to save me.

News: I have emailed Chillingo to ask them about future updates and possible online multiplayer capabilities but have had no response as of yet. The only news they have given about any kind of updates can be found at this link below.

Keep checking my profile for more reviews, I apologize for my slacking off lately. Had some stuff going on and had to restore my phone. Lost all my gaming data, have to start all over!

Saturday, July 11 2009 Prey: Invasion iPhone Review

Let me start off by stating that I have never played the original Prey VG for the Xbox or any other console/platform it has been released for, this is my first time playing. However, for the iPhone version I have been playing it since it's release a little while back and have found it to be...... Eh....... Onto my review.

Gameplay: First thing I noticed and really liked about this title is the options to change the way you want to play the game. There is an ExpertAnalog FPS Style and a Casual Digital Button Style control selections (as picturedabove in my screenshots). Once you pick the control setting you want and get down how to play you can really get started into the missions. The game moves at an average pace, which from the description in the App store (unless I missread it) said that it was a fast paced game.  There are mediocre villains and an I guess slightly above average story line, if that's what you would want to call it. This game also lags...... A LOT during gameplay so be sure to reboot your iPhone before attempting to play. Although, doing so only brings the problem down to a minimal it does still lag a good bit (At least more than I would like for it too).

Graphics: Overall, Prey Invasion is a very good looking FPS but, looks can be deceiving (as stated with the lagging problems etc.) The weaponry looks great, the developers put some really neat "toys" in here to play with . The villains are pretty decent looking (reminds me of PS1/2 graphics in a way). To me, the landscapes and various indoor maps were the best looking sections of the game itself.

Complete Overview (NEW!): I feel like since this is my first review where I have pretty much not liked the game hardly at all I feel a need to explain myself. The creators, 3d Realms have also been fantastic in my eyes. I just really think in the race to keep up with other  leading developers who are moving divisions into the mobile gaming market (particularly the iPhone App Store) to make these fast pace FPS games of the high quality that I have seen (an reviewed hehe). 3d Realms in my personal opinion rushed this release. This could have easily been one of the best games for the iPhone in the genre if it had more time in developement. The $2.99 price tag for this one isn't too bad. You get what you pay for.

As always, thanks for reading and PLEASE comment and leave suggestions.

Awesomeness is about to begin.

EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour for the iPhone platform is going to be the subject of my review today. Firtsly, I have to be honest, I have NEVER been a big sports game fan of anykind……….EVER…. Until now that is. I did play a few of the other golf titles that were available in the App™ Store and absolutely none of them have nearly the amount of gameplay, look and feel, and overall just pleasant experience while playing. I’m very upset with myself for not getting this title first.I could litereally play this game all day long if given the chance too. (Ask TinPanAlley on that one, that's a big deal for me to say that about a a sports game!). Anyway, onto my review of the game but, before I get started I only played it for a few hours before writing this so if there is anything that I missed or need to add let me know through here.

Very nice looking menu setups.

Complete control of setting how

you want your golfer to look!

Gameplay: The way that EA set this title up is just phenomenal! The intuitive controls allow for some of the smoothest gameplay I'va come across so far on my iPhone gaming adventure. Note: This games is very, very graphically intense so you need to restart your device before playing. I did and had no problems whatsoever with lagging and long load times. Everything was perfect as far as I'm concerned with this one. AH, almost forgot. I highly recommend taking the time to play through the tutorial, it is very "intense" I guess would be the word to use but, extremely worth the time.

Getting ready for my shot......                                                                   Driving that ball to town!!!!!!

Graphics: The larger (over 100mb) file makes this one a lot easier for EA to make the golfing experience look fantastic! There is also real time announcers that talk to you during play and they will deffinately let you know when you're doing badly. The course are HUGE! You can play all 18 holes throughout each stop on the PGA tour from what I've seen. As I said previously, restart your device before operating for smooth playing. The look and feel of this whole game is amazing, you can tell a lot of work was done to preserve the EA name . From the smooth looking menus to the countless ways to customize your charactor, to the  very detailed tutoring of the controls.. All was done damn near perfectly on this one. This is (in my opinion) the best gold game for the iPhone.

Pros: Pretty much everything about the game. I can't say anything but BUY BUY BUY. lol

Cons: The price tag is pretty hefty as is all of the EA games in the App Store but you get every pennies worth with this one. Current price tag is at $6.99 but we all know that is subject to change.

Oh yes! Almost forgot, the shot I took all those screens of.

...........did not go well

Can't win them all... As always, thanks for reading. Comments and suggestions are ancouraged.

Thanks,

-Matt
