I am going to use this space to chronicle my foray into PC gaming starting with Champions Online.  I am currently in the beta. At first I was kinda of taken back by all the mayhem going on as soon as you enter.  But as I looked up two hours had gone by and I was doing mini quest to level up my character.  I pulled myself away with much effort.  MMORPG's are like crack this one will be pretty good.  There was a little bit of lag at time but hopefully this will be resolved by launch.  I will be doing 1 - 2 hour a day.  Also on a side note NCSoft was not prepared for day one lauch of beta. It took two days for them to resolve patching problem. Better that happen now than at launch.  Alright thats it for now.

Day 2 August 20, 2009

I am glad to say that today was a much better day.  For starters the latency issues were almost non existant today.  Also I adjust my video full high settings and the game looks great(Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon 4850, 512mb , 4 gig of memory turns budget PC into a PC that plays games) and runs smooth.  I have so far created two characters and have decided to stick to one to level him up as much as I can before launch on September 1.  I did a couple of side missions before I decided to complete Millienium City Arc.  Then I had to deciede between going to desert and Canada.  I went to the desert where I first had an option to "train" to power up my character.  I chose a mental blast and picked my travel power flight. So now I am flying around and about to get ready for next mission.  This is where I ended it before I got anymore involved for the day.  So far so good.By the way I am using a combination of my xbox 360 controller and the keyboard(can't get use to keyboard control for movement and fighting) keyboard is mostly used for inventory items(weapons etc) and flight for now.

Today I took my main character his name is Godric (True Blood inspired)  true some desert missions and to the powerhouse.  I am going to Superman route with his power development so I am building up his Strength, Dexterity, and Endurance. So far in The Desert there have been some mini villian fights where you need more than one hero to take him down to complete the mission.  Also with the customization you can chose to specialize in various arts(mystic, science, firearms etc).  I didn't take my time to make this characters custome and now regret it beacuse I am seeing some badass customes in this beta.  I have seen some dead on builds of IronMan, Vegeta(dragonball z, some X Men characters just to name a few.  I currently still have 2 characters. Godric my superman clone and Duante Dukes my Psionic warrior.  Godric is a high level 8 and Duante is a level 2.  I will leve up Duante some over the weekend and make my 3 and 4th character also. So this is how the MMORPG addiction begins. The combat is very fluid and fast paced the only gripe is that when you have multiple people attacking you it is hard for me to pick the person I want to attack first(kind of like Prototype for those looking for something to compare it too) that is with my Godric character. Duante usually attacks at a slight distance and doesn't have that power.  Either way I am hooked and can't wait for the full experience to begin on September 1.  Also getting the 6 month subscription to get in on the Stark Trek MMO for later this year.  If I can figure it out I will post a pic or 2 of the characters.

Yesterday evening I spent some time with the player creator.  There is so much that can be done. Today I found the button at the bottom of the page that lets you really customize the character(shape, muscles etc). Last night I saw a cool model of the Hulk.  Looks like 9 characters is the max for the beta.  Another noter the is not voice chat at this time the would be a nice feature to have when you party up with other characters. Nemsis creation was add to last nights patch will try it tonight.  Nothing else much new will add more later.

Okay here are the character I have made to date(From top left to right my version of Hulk, Thor, Snake Eyes, Duante, Godric, & Violet.  Bad news on the nemsis creati0n, you cann not create you bad guy until level 30.  My highest level character Godric is level 10 and I have put some time in.  Duante is level 6 and I have used the characters only for a brief second just to try out there different powers.  I have entered the Canada level and it is nice looking but I seem to like the Desert section better.  There is a "event" tomorrow an alien invasion where characters will be able to get rare drops.  Also for today I teamed up with another player to go through alot of the missions and to finish one main storyline.  So far the amount of players you ca create is 8.  I still need to figure out how to tailor other costumes and edit current characters.  Thats it for today her are some more pics which I got from the Champions-online.com web page after logging into my account.

Well today was the big event against the Descructoidbots and Mega Destructoidbots.  Quite challenging so much I would say that the servers could not handle everything that was going on.  As I tried to log in now the servers are down.  Also today was the unveiling of the PvP system other than just having a showdown in the middle of the world you can enter an arena and slug it out.  You have a team deathmatch mode, A prison break mode which to me remids me of GOW 2 wingman with a little capture the flag thrown in.  I was surprised by those to modes very fun.  For participation in todays events I recieved so cape options and some other custom perks and some power enhancements.

 For not reading the Watchmen graphic novel, and taking a good night sleep to digest what I saw yesterday this is what I have to say.  It was okay. Nothing close to all the hype and build that was given to it.  It has good moments and a great story which wasn't delivered as good as it could have.  I am not sure if the fingers should be pointed at the acting or to just chalk it up to this graphic novel didn't have(or can not have)  a seemless transition to film. This film reminds of V for Vendetta with a message that will make you think about this film and open up the discussion about the neccessary evil.  I will leave it at that.  Also I would like to add that the greatness of the comic book movies from 2008 makes this movie seem flat by comparision. Side note was disgusted to see families here in Miami bring 4 year olds to see this movie sitting in booster chairs at that.
