I created a club house on the Playstation HOME network called TALKINGABOUTGAMES.COM. I am hoping that we can use this club to set up meetings between the community team and the TAG forums members. These meetings can be used to cover forum issues, PS3 Gamenights, podcast feedback, etc.

Now I know that the number of Xbox 360 owners outnumber PS 3 owners, but that shouldn't prevent us from getting together once or twice a month, to talk about our favorite website. :-)

Here is the info you need:

Club House name: TALKINGABOUTGAMES.COM

Tag: TAG.COM

Also, my PSN is JVBETA, so add me if you want to get into the club.

My Views of Todays video Game Communtiy.

JVB

For those that are not familiar with me, I have been part of the Video Game Community for over four years. I have been writing and podcasting about video games since the early years, when doing so was challenging and made fun of by the bigger sites and publishers. Now, it seems like everyone is either podcasting or blogging about video games, and this alarms me.

Before I get to my issues, I want to give you guys a small recap of my history in the gaming community. This allows you to determine if I have any right to state an opinion about these issues.

When I began listening to podcast, I used to listen to Podtacular, Dreamstation.cc, Gaming Steve, and Gamertag Radio. I remember thinking to myself: "Man, these guys are having fun". I used to imagine myself hanging out with these guys, because they loved talking about videogames as much as me. I made sure to catch every episode, every week, so that I could get their own personal point-of-views about the games that were about to come out. I really wanted to get involved and that I did.

I never pictured myself getting into podcasting, but I did want to get involved in the video game scene in some fashion. I got my first writting opportunity with a website called Xbox Circle, where I learned the ins and outs about being part of a news team. The main thing that the news editor wanted more than anything else, was a personal touch on everything we wrote about. If any of us dared to copy and paste a press release, we were given hell for it, and the article was taken off the site until it was redone. It was a great experience and I learned so much from them.

After working with a few other sites, I got my own column for Seatag.com. My column was called The Naked Truth, for my straight forward, no-nonsense point of views about the video game industry. It's funny, because that is where I met Parris, and saw his podcasting career take off to what it is today. :-) I even started interviewing members from other wedsites and posted it on my column, which took off and started a trend with other websites. Once again, I learned a lot of valuable lessons in my stay there. Which leads me to my podcasting career.

When I first starting hosting Podtacular with Foo Mo Jive, its was a dream come true. I never thought that I would be doing the one thing I thought I didn't have the talent to do. I was a wreck during my first month, but once I realized my limitations and strengths, podcasting became second nature and the relationship I built with the Podtacular community was priceless.

JVB

This afternoon I went to lunch with my fellow SFX 360 staff member, BuzzKiller, to meet up with game developer, Nathan Fouts.

Nathan Fouts, the founder of Mommy's Best Games (www.mommysbestgames.com), was in town to visit family and took time away from his very busy schedule to sit down for an awesome interview. During the interview we talked about his days with Postal 2, Ratchet And Clank: Tools Of Destruction, Resistance: Fall Of Man, and his reasons for creating his own studio.

Nathan also talks about his inspirations for his new title: Grapple Buggy. Grapple Buggy promises to deliver a very rich story to go along with its intense gameplay. If you were a fan of Weapon Of Choice, you will love what you'll have to hear about Grapple Buggy

And, for all you inspiring game developers, you will want to keep your ears glued to your headset, because he has a lot of insight about the other side of the video game industry to share with you all.

Here is the link to the show.

Hope you enjoy it.

Movie Remakes Killing My Childhood.

JVB

I just wanted to rant a bit about the lack of creativity in today's movie industry. It seems that the big honchos in-charge of the major studios, cannot think of anything original, so they look at comic books, cartoons, and mega-blockbusters of the past.

Total Recall, Staring Arnold Shwarzenegger, is going to be re-made for the big screen. Why? Why take a movie that was a huge hit in theaters and re-make it for what? Total Recall is a timeless classic. A movie that didn't hold your hand and tell you what the ending was (dream or reality?). It left you guessing and for that, I feel its the main reason it is still a major must-see.

Whomever they choose to play the role of Douglas Quaid is going to have a hard time making me a believer. No one can mimic Arnold's classic lines: "Come on baby, you know you're the girl of my dreams", "Give them air", "Get your ass to Mars", the list goes on.

I'd have to say that I will not see this in theaters, upon release.  It will be a injustice to a time when movies still had magic.
