Don't worry they will at least have to fix it before they can charge you. In other news x-box fan boys see a 95% raise in wringing hands and meniacle laughter. The mantra muttered by x-box fanboys "you get what you pay for" in response to the constant insult of "free online service" from PS fanboys just got a lot tastier.

... To be fair this doesn't seem to be a problem with PSN. It's something about an error in the internal clock. People who don't connect to PSN with their PS3s are having similar problems of not being able to play. So your line of "get what you pay for" doesn't really make sense considering it's the system, not the service that is failing. |

... Forgetfool is right, this isn't PSN's fault but a problem with how the internal clock works in the older PS3 models. It's just that the date has to correctly for PSN to authorise PSN accounts, trophy information, etc and that's why it got messed up. I believe the the Zune which was hit by a similar bug couple of years ago. In any case, while I do think some people, especially those who purchased a new game in the last couple of days (namely Heavy Rain) have the right to be angry, the overall reaction to this problem has been excessive to say the least. Hell this was on the front page of one of London's popular newspapers. And it's not like the service was down for days. If I recall correctly, the XBL was down for more than 10 days not that long ago. In fact, I think Microsoft was even sued for it for XBL subscribers. The difference is, PSN is a free service. If they were charging for it then people would have a strong case to be so outraged by this but some of the reactions I've seen is just ridiculous. It was hilarious watching people taking potshots at the PS3. Though some of it was quite funny... 'PS3 it only does nothing'.. 'ApocalyPS3'.. brilliant. |

... I get what I pay for?!?! F that! The network was down for how long? 24 hours at most right? I turned my PS3 on, noticed something was wrong and turned it off and carried on with MY LIFE! Seriously I could see bitching about his if the network was down for days but for f*&k sake, get a life! What I paid for is an awesome system that after years of stumbling has finally gotten its act together! Big deal,... it didn't brick any systems(that I'm aware of). Anyone play Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, etc. The PS3 is kicking ass lately and perhaps other console owners are feeling a bit left out and feel compelled to lash out over a MINOR internal errors. I was there on XBL a few years ago shortly after Christmas when it went down for days! I took a deep breath and I survived! Quit yer bitchin |

... It's quite delightful when people scream to stop bitching and then launch into a tirade. I never meant to pick sides here. I was just commenting on what happened. If I made these blog posts years ago when that x-box live thing happened i would have wrote about it. And you all have a point people shouldn't get angry about this they really don't have a right since the service is free. Hence the you get what you paid for. Loosing trophies though that is atrocious. |

... You may not have come into this intending to pick sides but your blog post came across pretty 'MS Fanboy' and read like a raspberry to PS3 owners. That is why you are getting these reactions. I own both systems, I like both systems. I was unaffected by the recent PS3 glitch but I have had two red-rings and one Christmas I couldn't play my new games online for several days on XBL, which I pay for. Overall I find Sony/PSN to be much more reliable. |
